Our story

It started with someone close to me who came out as trans. I was honored they trusted me to do their hair — but in our first consultations, I realized something my training hadn’t prepared me for: they hadn’t grown up experimenting with the styling their hair now called for, so they didn’t have the vocabulary or instincts a lot of clients bring in the door. That gap wasn’t something they were missing. It was something I’d been missing — and it made me wonder how many other stylists were missing it too.

So I asked what would actually help — not just doing their hair for them, but teaching them to do it themselves. The answers went further than hair: makeup, skincare, clothing, and just learning to use the tools in the first place.

That was 2020, and this has been a long time coming. We ran our first class in 2023 — volunteer hairstylists teaching one-on-one, alongside a makeup artist who came on to help. I looked for an existing LGBTQ+ organization to fold this into, but couldn’t find the right fit, so Gender Euphoria Society became its own thing. We officially became a registered nonprofit in 2025 — the community support along the way told us this was worth building.

Our mission

We provide free, customized beauty and self-care kits — real, full-size products — to people who are transitioning, especially those who don’t feel safe or able to be fully themselves where they live. If you’re part of the broader LGBTQ+ community and this applies to you, reach out regardless.

Where we’re headed

Money, product, and volunteers are still what we need most — that hasn’t changed since the beginning, and we’re not stopping. The goal: regular classes, here and eventually across the country, plus kits sent to partner salons where stylists can teach hands-on and send people home with product. For anyone who isn’t ready or able to do that in person, kits you can request and have mailed directly, built around what you personally need.
